This last week has been WILD to say the very least. But, we survived!! Woot woot!

What I read/created:

I’m going to be honest, February started off as a really slow reading month. I couldn’t get my brain to slow down. Instead of reading, I spent most of the time rearranging the house. I organized my books and crafts more than I actually did them. But, I did manage to pull through.

I finished The Overseer Class by Stephen W. Thrasher. This book is absolutely amazing and much needed. In this book, the author explores the dynamic of how members of minoritized groups take highly visible positions, not to help others also become welcome in those spaces, but to keep other’s out. He looks at how this works in policing, media, academia, and military. Check it out March 19th or pre-order now!

I also finished Masquerade of Mirrors by Samantha Hartwood. It is the story of Taera and Nikolai’s adventure through the desert. It is full of drama, some yearning, and so many lies. The world building in this book was pretty great. Her descriptions are wonderful. The FMC and MMC made me audibly cuss a few times. And the ending made me gasp. It’s a great debut novel for an indie author. I mean, I read the whole thing in two days because I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I cannot wait to see where Samantha goes after this. This one releases February 17th!

I started Be Not Afraid by Koja Kalos yesterday and I am so into it. Imagine if you found out that the nightmares you were having were actually sent by an angel… and were prophecies? Not only that, but you are the key to saving the world. Heavy, right? The banter in this one is hilarious. I keep giggling and it’s one of those books that has me in the notes section of the Kindle. I honestly cannot wait to get back home and curl back up with it.

As far as creating… ummm… I started working on a crochet project I have kind of sitting around and then I realized it is going to take for freaking ever and now I am looking for new patterns. Haha. I need a new cardigan!

What did the family do:

Woo! It has been a busy week. We had the usual weekly stuff but it was also J1’s soccer tournament on Saturday! It was such a fun day! His team came in third but wow have they grown this year. I am so excited to see what they do next season. Now we have two weeks off, then back to Spring! On Sunday, the toddlers and I went to the zoo for one of our baby besties birthday’s! We had a blast. We got to see lots of animals. I think the spider monkeys were the favorite since they were running all over! Fun times, fun times!

Anyway, maybe I should actually get some work done since that’s what I claimed I needed alone time for.
