New Year, New Me?

New Year, New Me?

No. It’s actually just a Thursday. Okay… maybe not JUST a Thursday, but… I don’t think we need an entirely new me. But, since the year is ending and a new one is starting, maybe I can do something with all of the reflecting I’ve been doing lately.

180 books read!

First, I waaaayy surpassed my original reading goal. This year I set out for 100 then ended up upping it a couple of times through the year. Ending the year with 180. But, probably 181 because I am in the middle of an Alina Jacobs kick… again. I can’t pick just one favorite book this year so top five:

  • A Fairy Hunters Guide to the Recently (Un)dead- Cynthia Prith
  • Woman On the Verge- Kim Hooper
  • Those That Burned- S.Y Farmer
  • The Secret World of Maggie Gray- Granger
  • The Deer and Dragon – Piper CJ

I also learned this year that I cannot blindly trust my friend’s book recommendations.

Next year, I think I’m aiming for 200. I want to try audiobooks again this year now that I finally figured out this whole crochet thing now. I am also planning on probably writing more about what I’m reading. I need to talk to other people about books!

This year thanks to some friends, I finally actually gave in and started knitting and crocheting. And as suspected, man do I love buying yarn. My goal for next year is to be able to actually read a pattern… and figure out granny squares. And then maybe I’ll be able to focus more on knitting? Or I’ll just get bored and ADHD will have us sitting in a pile of half-finished projects. We shall see!

This year has been a huge year of growth and a lot of the roadblocks in our homeschooling journey have been worked out. I know that a lot more will probably arise over the years but, so far… it’s working. This coming year I plan on being more intentional about what they are learning and how. While I will always follow their lead, I want to offer a bit more structure. Mostly because that seems to be what they need & want. It will also be helpful since I’m going back to school. I’m nervous to be honest. I have tried a few times over the years & the timing was never right. Now with 6 kids, chickens, dogs, etc? 😮‍💨 but, I think I can do it!

I am really hoping to be able to find time to sit down and write here. Keep things updated about what we have going on. Because, it’s honestly a lot! So, that’s another goal of mine!

Okay…. even though that isn’t the fuuullllll goal list, I gotta run because the chickens are screaming & the toddlers are asking for snacks & well… I just don’t have time to elaborate!
