Today is release day for Sophie Bernbaum’s second YA novel, Love & Other Tragedies.
Love & Other Tragedies follows Rose through her senior year of high school. While navigating college applications, senior traditions, and nailing all her theater performances, her best friend’s brother finally notices her. If that wasn’t enough, Rose is also faced with many social justice challenges that more and more children are having to face…
Sophie’s love and care for her characters shows throughout the book. She handles each situation with such care. And the way everyone supports Rose’s ADHD made me tear up a few times. The beauty in the acceptance!
I was lucky enough to meet Sophie in our local Buy, Nothing group while she was working on Just Eloise. I was hooked on her writing style from the first page. She made me remember what I missed about YA books. And how even though it’s called Young Adult, it actually still has a ton of relevance for this mom of 6. Ha.
If you’d like to read something that will give you a little hope, check this out!
